Technical Theatre job training program
Urban Musical Theatre & KaidyDid Productions is committed to creating learning opportunities, supporting career pathways, and diversifying the field. Our Apprenticeship Program is designed for under-served populations with little to no access to hands-on theater job training programs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with no background in professional theater to receive hands-on training in technical production and artistic careers. Apprentices will shadow one or more theater professionals, gaining the opportunity to not only observe the production process but also learn and practice the skills necessary to work in these fields.
As a theatrical organization our philosophy is that working on a production is the best form of job training, as it gives participants real-life job skills and helps them experience what working in theater is really like.
The Technical Theatre Training Program works in tandem with UMT’s regular show season, which starts in March and runs through November each year. Participants gain hands-on experience by working on full-fledged theatrical productions, allowing them to get the most relevant training and a genuine feel for what it's like to work in the theater industry.
